Awards

Our voluntary, intensive commitment over many years is highly recognized in Switzerland as well as in Bulgaria. Our representatives were able to receive various awards for this.

Ambassador Svetlan Stoev honoured, in a personal letter to Honorary President Anita Hammer and President Irina Buholzer, Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe's more than 30 years of fully volunteer-based commitment to disadvantaged children and young people in Bulgaria. He highlighted that the association opens up new perspectives through education, therapy and social integration – carried entirely by volunteer effort, so that support goes directly to the children.

The award, which includes a cash prize of CHF 40,000, was presented to Anita Hammer for her 20-year commitment to helping children, the elderly and the disabled in Bulgaria.

Anita Hammer was recognized as the driving force behind a relief effort that relies heavily on informal networks, creativity in finding potential donors, and perseverance in overcoming obstacles in a pragmatic way.

Golden Laurel Branch: Medal of the Bulgarian Government

In 2015, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Switzerland, Meglena Plugtschieva, awarded the "Golden Laurel Branch" to Anita Hammer in honor of her 25 years of charitable work in Bulgaria.
